Welcome to HubHappy
Like many Bostonians, I moved to Boston for college and just haven't left.
This city has become the center of my universe, and almost everyday I find something that makes me happy to live here, even on days that I step in gum, wait 5 light cycles for a cross signal, miss a bus that left early, or can't squeeze into the D train on a game day. . .
Boston is a city of man's marvels and nature's blessings. It is the spot where history and future cross paths. I am proud to be a citizen of the city on a hill.
Here you can read about my daughter's and my favorite spots in Boston - places to visit when in the mood for exploring, a destination for relaxation, places to take kids without overspending, and maybe even a tourist trap or two.

Make it a Day!
When my daughter and I visit the ICA, we plan to spend the day "in town." After our activities at the museum, we usually stroll back toward down town via the new, almost finished harborwalk.
If it is too cold to walk along the water, we cross the bridge near Congress Street and slowly make our way along the Rose Kennedy Greenway. There, we toss a ball or a frisbee, skip through the sprinklers, and people-watch.
On Fridays, we'll browse through the Haymarket tents for cheap produce, or interesting foods, and if I feel like splurging, I'll spring for a whirl around the new Carousel on the Greenway near Long Wharf. ($3)
One of my favorite pizza shops along the Haymarket (Haymarket Pizza) sells large slices for $1.75 - definitely the cheapest lunch (from the nicest guys) in that part of town.
The best part of these trips is that my daughter doesn't notice how stingy I've been- she gets lunch, a half day at a beautiful museum, fresh fruit to bring home, a little time outdoors, and a lot of time with Mom!

We always, no matter how recently we have been, dally in the gift shop. This is one of the smallest, but most quirky museum gift shops. I don’t know why people buy gifts at Macy’s anymore- if you have an occasion such as a wedding or baby show or housewarming- browse the gift shop at the ICA – where the unique and useful come together gracefully.

Why I Love the T!
It’s awesome that someone can get to work in Boston via a commuter train from Leominster, a ferry from Hull, the bus from Beverly or the subway from Braintree.
- I love that I saw scores of tourists standing patiently in line to take the T’s inner harbor ferry from Long Wharf to view the tall ships at the Navy Yard yesterday.
- I appreciate that it is a very short bus ride for me to take my daughter to an MDC pool and skating rink in the Stonybrook Reservation.
- It’s comforting to see the same people in the same seats at the same time each day (Lady with 2 Metros, Man Whose Socks Seldom Match, Obnoxious Noxious Cologne Man) in my head, I think of them as friends.

Meet at the lampost (like Lucy and Mr.Tumnus) near the circulation desk in the McKim Building's grand entryway for a 1 hour guided tour with a volunteer.

The Boston Public Library's Main Branch is in Copley Square, across from Trinity Church, at the intersection of Boylston and Dartmouth Streets.
Via the Green line, any branch, the stop is Copley, and if you take the Orange line, get off at Back Bay Station and exit on Dartmouth St.
The # 39 Bus travels down Boylston St. and several buses service Back Bay Station.
